One of Chris' special interests is the integration of conventional care and complementary therapies for the best outcomes when dealing with cancer treatment, recovery, and prevention.  She lectures widely on the clinical evidence for adjunctive cancer care in this field.  Click here to view some of her recent activities.

Cancer is a chronic illness that needs to be normalized.  Cancer is a word, not a sentence.  64% of people survive cancer (all cancers are included in this statistic) and are living active and healthy lives five years after their diagnosis (U.S. National Cancer Institute, Office of Cancer Survivorship).  These survivors are patient experts who will contribute to further knowledge of cancer rehabilitation.

For details of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre Patient Education series, click here.  Once per month, Chris presents Adjunctive Cancer Care:  An Evidence-Based Approach to CAM Therapies, where you can learn about the evidence-base for complementary therapies and their integration with chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.  Presentations are free and open to the public.  All are welcome.

Individual or family consultations are available where I will spend 1.5 hours in your home or office at a time convenient to you and will provide individualized support for you and your loved ones.  Have all your questions ready.  I will provide the research, options, and support you need in coping with your illness.  A pre-questionnaire and follow-up are included.  The fee is $249.  Click here to contact me for more details.

For the best information about nutrition and cancer, we highly recommend the Cancer Nutrition Info Web site by Suzanne Dixon, MPH, MS, RD.  She does an excellent review of current research, answers common questions, and also provides recipes.  If you have questions about food and and cancer prevention, or have cancer and want to know about the most important dietary practices, click to here to access her Web site.
